My Story
White Buffalo Crafts by Isabelle is a project that I created while in my undergrad in 2017. The name White Buffalo Crafts comes from my spirit name Waabishkizi Mashkode Bzhiki Enaandwiywed Kwe, which translates from Anishinaabemowin to White Buffalo Healing Lady. This name gifted to me at Rama First Nation inspired my spiritual understandings and exploration of my Indigenous identity. I recently completed my law degree at McGill University, and my art allows me to explore a different side of self-expression and thinking. I have always felt art has significant meaning and role in society learning and changing. The art that I aim to create has meaning and is influenced by my life of “walking in two worlds” as a mixed urban Anishinaabekwe. I owe so much of my growth to my family, community and friends.
